HOW CAN WE IMPROVE

——SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Three key steps on the future of rural economic work - strengthening, stepping out and moving forward - to shape sustainable and inclusive work for the future, putting decent work at the forefront of revitalising rural economies to make them more dynamic and attractive.

SOLUTIONS

The rural tourism activities with distinctive features and various forms enliven the tourism market, enrich the tourism products, and meet the needs of mass tourism consumption. At the same time, also for the rural economic development and the construction of a new socialist countryside to provide a good way of sustainable development, to change the backward face of some rural areas have made a contribution. But we can also see that there are some problems in rural tourism, such as single tourism products, backward tourism concept, disorderly planning, serious environmental damage and so on. Some practical suggestions can be considered for the sustainable development of global rural tourism.

  • Protecting and strengthening environmental assets by creating more protected areas for biodiversity and ecosystems[1]

According to the actual situation of rural land use, reasonable planning of tourism areas and indigenous living areas to achieve a balance between ecological nature protection and tourism needs. Controlling the impact of tourism on traditional agricultural activities.

  • Strengthening the local tourism industry and improving the quality of the visitor experience

By establishing cross-departmental rural working groups to support and solve rural problems, to improve work efficiency and reduce government administrative costs. Establishing a dialogue mechanism in rural areas, holding regular rural meetings, exchanging studies, and online discussions, and keeping abreast of social conditions and public opinions to help the people resolve their problems.

  • Monitoring visitor levels and activity to find ways to manage and control their impact

By controlling and limiting the number of tourists, rural land and rural resources can be protected to avoid the damage to vegetation and other ecological systems caused by congestion in peak times.[2]

  • Protecting rural cultural traditions and sustaining rural tourism cultural characteristics

Undeniably, rural tourism has brought profits to tourism enterprises and brought hope for regional development. However, the development of rural tourism has also brought great damage to rural culture.[3] The main reason lies in the improper planning of the government and the blind development of enterprises. In the development of tourism, due to the lack of thorough understanding of rural culture, the development of rural culture tends to be superficial and vulgarized, losing the authenticity of rural culture. In addition, with the development of the economy, the urban culture spreads to the countryside, which continuously erodes the traditional rural culture, leading to the decline and extinction of rural culture. Therefore, the government should bravely assume the responsibility of protecting local culture, improve the scientific decision-making, and shoulder the task of guiding enterprises to develop reasonably, so as to realize the sustainable development of rural tourism culture.
